Dive Sites

Anilao is also the birthplace of scuba diving in the Philippines and continuous to attract a major share of both local and international market with its superb dive sites, a fitting tribute to a paradise on this side of the Philippines.

This paradise has several dive spots that are at par with other diving destinations. They are laid out in front of you waiting for you to conquer. Each dive spots varies in depth and difficulty, suitable to all types of divers from novice to professional, from seasoned to amateurs.

For all diving enthusiasts, Anilao offers a wide-array of diving experiences. More than 40 dive sites are within 5 - 30 minutes boat ride from Aqua Tropical Sports Resort (ATSR).

Some of the most recommended dive sites within the range of ATSR. Here, a diver can fulfill his inquisitive yearnings to explore the great new world underwater

  • Our House Reef

Variety of corals, nudibranchs and fishes, good for macro photography. a small fishing boat wreck can be found at about 18 meters / 60 feet

  • Cathedral Marine Park Sanctuary

Approximately 23 meters/76 feet off Bagalangit Point lies a giant rock formation that looks a roofless underwater amphitheater. Originally barren, the Cathedral has been seeded with corals. Moorish idols, parrot fish, and the usual reef dwellers all cluster around divers and peer into their masks.

  • Sombrero Island

On the surface, this island resembles a hat underwater, so its profile makes the name Sombrero even more appropriate. The rim of the “hat” stretches a long way underwater from north to south. Gorgonians, black coral, shells, turtles, rays, grunts, jacks, snappers and great variety of soft corals are scattered all over the place. Currents are normally strong during the full moon.

Sepok

The rim of the drop-off due west of Sepok Point and running southwest is a very good dive site with a wide variety of marine life. A great number of small reef fish dart in and out of the numerous corals.

  • Mainit Point
  • Abounds with wide variety of corals, plant life and pelagic fishes. Boiling water springs could be found along the beach.
  • Layag-Layag Reef

Extensive coral formation on a shallow steep slope. On the south side of this open-water area, a ledge drops to about 20 to 30 meters/66 to 99 feet from close to the surface.
